My Acting Talent Has Been Overlooked For Years- Gloria Sarfo

Gloria Sarfo

Actress Gloria Sarfo believes her acting talent has been underestimated over the years by many Ghanaian producers and filmmakers.

This, she explained, is the reason why she has not been featured in many Ghanaian movies as expected.

In an interview with NEWS-ONE about her recent nomination for the 2020 edition of Africa Magic View Choice Awards (AMVCA), she said she is not given the opportunity she really deserves in the movie industry.

Currently, Gloria is the only actress from Ghana to receive nomination for the 2020 AMVCA.

She was nominated for best supporting actress category with her role in Shirley Frimpong-Manso’s sequel film ‘The Perfect Picture: 10 Years Later’.

She is competing with Toni Tones, Eucharia Anunobi, Tina Mba and Mary Lazarus to become the best supporting actress in a movie or TV series.

“The nomination means a lot to me. I think this is a wake-up call for people to recognise a talent that has been hidden for years. I can say I have been hidden because I think I have been sidelined for a long time. I think I have been blacklisted, neglected and overlooked for a very long time,” Gloria disclosed.

She believes the nomination “is the beginning of greater things to come, regarding my career.”

Ten years ago, the talented actress auditioned for ‘Perfect Picture’ but she didn’t make it among the cast. Ten years later, director Shirley Frimpong-Manso gave her an opportunity in the movie’s sequel. She played about four scenes in the movie but she was the only cast who got nominated.

She is hopeful she would make Ghana proud at AMVCA’s main event.
