‘My Tigers Are For Safari’

Nana Kwame Bediako

Business Mogul Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar, has explained that the tigers currently being kept in his house are for his safari.

He said he bought them from Dubai and brought them to Ghana for his safari because he wanted to add value to the tourism sector in the country.

“I planned to go into the safari world by making sure that Ghana becomes the first country in the whole of West, East and Central Africa, to have that kind of animals in their safari, with the exception of South Africa.

He said he has been keeping them with him for six months now, after buying them when they were only one month old.

“After winning the bid for the animals which was between myself coming from Ghana and the private sector and Dubai, I went through the process of documentation before the animals were flown into the country.

“The reason why I have been keeping the animals with me is because, you have to feed them as babies six times a day, then it comes to four times and so on, you have to also train them, get someone taking care of them, get them a veterinary and all that, so I kept them in my house to ensure that they go through the right process (sic),” he disclosed.

He indicated that, “I brought experts from outside to create a safety cage for these animals so they don’t endanger or don’t become dangerous to the public and so that’s why I have them with me but not to say that this discussions has not been going on with the  Forestry Commission,” he said.

“We are trying our best to merge to open a good Zoo in Accra or somewhere in Ghana that will attract people when they come to Ghana so they can also go and see our Safari tourism sector, and that’s why I have these animals (sic),” Mr. Bediako maintained.

He revealed that leaving animals of this nature in the wild makes them more dangerous, as they need to be trained and taken care of before they can be used for tourist purposes.

It would be recalled that some residents at Wonda World Estates, Avenue Lincoln, at Ridge in Accra, expressed worry over the presence of the tigers in the estate.

The presence of the tigers in the community, according to the residents, is making them uncomfortable.
