Film lovers across Ghana are gearing up for a cinematic spectacle as ‘’Virgins of the Throne’, the latest African epic, premieres on April 3 at Silverbird Cinemas Accra Mall and Silverbird Cinemas West Hills Mall.
Set to thrill audiences during the festive season, the film delivers a gripping, transgenerational story that explores the haunting cycle of life, death, and rebirth, reminding viewers that existence itself may be a mysterious loop where we live again, yet forget who we once were.
Spanning Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone, this mystical odyssey begins with a brutal murder that unearths buried secrets and hidden ambitions. In a world shaped by deception and desire, every truth births another lie, pulling characters into a suspense-filled journey where reality itself begins to fracture.
Directed by Frank Rajah Arase, the film is described as a deeply spiritual and cultural project. “This film was born from a meditation on ancestry, memory, and the invisible threads that bind generations,” he said, highlighting the shared mythologies and moral codes that unite the African continent.
At its core, ‘Virgins of the Throne’ goes beyond power and royalty, delving into themes of spiritual and emotional inheritance, and the heavy burden of legacy. Rajah notes that the film challenges the idea of destiny, suggesting that while people may walk paths shaped by their ancestors, they still have the power to rewrite their future.
The film boasts a powerhouse cast including Majid Michel, Lateef Adedimeji, Syndy Emade, Adjetey Anang, alongside Roselyn Ngissah, Martha Ankomah, Segun Arinze, and Tony Umez.
With its blend of realism and mysticism, breathtaking landscapes, and layered performances, the film positions Africa as a mosaic of intertwined destinies rather than a single narrative.
Cinema operators anticipate large crowds, as holidaymakers are expected to throng Silverbird locations for what promises to be one of the season’s biggest releases.
