NADMO Assist Akyem – Oda Victims

THE National Disaster Management Organisation – NADMO has presented relief items to the residents of Akyem – Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region who were displaced by the heavy rains on Easter Monday, last month.

On April 5, 2021, a devastating rainstorm hit Akim Oda communities which ripped apart roofings of houses, and school buildings, and also by displaced scores of the residents.

After the disaster, the Birim Central Municipal Assembly, with the support of the Senior Presidential Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo a former MP of the area together with current MP for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah contributed an amount of GH¢35,000 and presented to rainstorm disaster victims.

Over the weekend, Director-General of NADMO, Eric Nana Agyeman-Prempeh also made a presentation of relief items to victims.

The presentation was done at a mini durbar with representatives of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Council who were grateful to the government for responding to their distress call through the national disaster management body, NADMO.

The Director-General in his remarks called for mutual cooperation with NADMO and other coordinating agencies to help prevent man-made disasters.
