Nana Akua Addo
The husband of Ghanaian fashion icon Nana Akua Addo, Harold Duodu Norman, has allegedly been remanded into custody following allegations of abuse against his wife and their children.
According to a close source, Nana Akua Addo is expected to have full custody of their children while the couple undergoes trial.
The latest development comes after weeks of public outcry and court proceedings at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service.
Following the petition of abuse, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27, cautioned, and granted police enquiry bail with two sureties on August 29 while investigations continued.
He was scheduled to appear in court on October 7, but his lawyer informed police he had been admitted to hospital. DOVVSU investigators visited the hospital to verify the claim and police said he would be arraigned immediately after discharge.
With the new remand and the expected custody arrangement, the case is set to enter a decisive phase as the court determines the next steps.
Workers and supporters of Nana Akua Addo on Monday gathered at the DOVVSU court to show solidarity with her as proceedings continue.
The supporters, clad in T-shirts bearing her image with the inscription ‘JUSTICE’, demanded accountability, with one saying, “If you no longer love her, take her back to her family instead of beating her.”
At the court premises, workers of the fashion icon insisted they could not remain silent while she suffers what they describe as injustice, calling for justice and accountability as the case unfolds.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the case stems from a formal petition filed by Nana Akua Addo, known privately as Rosemond Akua Adobea, to the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on August 20, 2026, alleging physical, emotional and economic abuse.
Police say preliminary investigations revealed the couple had previously come to the attention of DOVVSU at Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
The issue escalated in early October when videos and photos began circulating on social media showing Nana Akua Addo with visible injuries, including a swollen lip and facial wounds, with blood-stained clothing. Separate footage reportedly showed one of their daughters being slapped.
