Checks by DAILY GUIDE indicate that the popularity of President Akufo-Addo in the Zongo communities seems to be soaring.

The president garnered more votes from the Zongo communities during the 2016 polls. Undoubtedly, the massive support from the Zongo areas helped him to become president in 2016. And two years after assuming the highest office, his popularity in the Zongo areas continues to rise.

This became obvious when he recently attended a Zongo conference in Kumasi. Most of the Zongo youth that graced the event were seen holding placards to show their support and admiration for the president.

Some of the placards bore inscriptions like “Thank you Mr. President” and “Nana is the best”, just to mention a few.

In the course of the programme, some of the Zongo youth were seen chanting the name of the president. Some of the Zongo youth the paper talked to said they were impressed with the performance of the president.

They said Zongo communities in the country had witnessed massive growth under the leadership of President Akufo-Addo. According to them, they wanted to show appreciation to the president to encourage him to sustain his good works.

The Zongo youth also lauded the Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development, Mustapha Hamid, for his good performance.

The president was born and bred at Nima, a popular Zongo community in Accra. Prior to being elected as president, he gave an assurance to implement positive policies to help transform the Zongo communities.
