Nana Kwame Ampadu Laid To Rest

People from all walks of life including Ghanaian musicians, stakeholders in the showbiz industry last Saturday, October 8, joined the family of the late Nana Kwame Ampadu at Obo Kwahu in the Eastern Region to bid farewell to the legendary highlife musician.

The mortal remains of the late veteran highlife musician, who died on September 28, 2021 after a short illness, were laid to rest at his hometown, Obo Kwahu.

The burial ceremony of the veteran highlife musician attracted a large number of stakeholders from the creative industry including journalists, musicians, friends of the late musician and political party representatives.

A number of musicians such as Osei Kofi, Teacher Boateng, Baffour Kyei, Rex Omar, Bessa Simons, Agyapaye, Seth Amponsah, Oheneba Kissi, Great Ampong, Diana Hopeson and a host of others were spotted at the funeral.

Those who paid tribute to their departed colleague praised Nana Kwame Ampadu for his immense contribution to the growth of Ghanaian highlife music.

Before the burial ceremony, a state funeral, attended by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was held in his honour at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Friday, October 7, 2022, before his remains were conveyed to his hometown at Obo Kwahu.

Nana Kwame Ampadu was born on March 31, 1945. In 1963, he formed the African Brothers Band with Eddie Donkor as a co-founder.

During the latter part of his life, he went into full time Gospel Ministry, forming the Living with Christ Church.

He left behind a wife, Mama Abigail and eleven children.
