Nana Leads AU Elections Observation Mission To The Republic Of Congo

The African Union (AU) has appointed former President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to lead its elections observation mission in the Republic of Congo next week.

Presidential elections are due in the Central African country on March 15, 2026.

The AU Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) will comprise members of the AU Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC); Pan African Parliament (PAP); African Governance Platform; election management bodies; independent election experts, civil society organisations, and representatives of women’s and youth groups.

A statement released by the office of the former President said Mr. Akufo-Addo is expected to leave Accra on Friday, March 13, and return on March 18, 2026.
