President Akufo-Addo in a handshake with Anthonio Guterres
The bond and friendship between President Akufo-Addo and the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), Anthonio Guterres, keep growing from strength to strength.
This became evident sometime last week when the two leaders met.
In spite of his busy schedule, the Secretary-General of the world governing body found time to meet President Akufo-Addo on the side-lines of the just-ended 72nd UN General Assembly meeting.
At a meeting held in the office of the Secretary-General, the two leaders were said to have exchanged views on the situation in Ghana and the West Africa sub-region.
Key among the issues discussed were the challenges of terrorism and violent extremism.
The Secretary-General was said to have expressed appreciation for President Akufo-Addo’s engagement and commitment, as co-chair of the group of 17 eminent Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) advocates.
Mr Guterres also did commend the government and people of Ghana for their individual and collective contribution to the resolution of the post-electoral crisis in the Republic of The Gambia.
