Nana Storms Volta For 3-Day-Visit

President Akufo-Addo is expected to make a three-day tour of the Volta Region from today (Monday) to Wednesday, 11th July, 2018.

The tour which forms part of a nationwide activity he started some weeks ago is expected to see him cover and reach out to the various stakeholders and citizens of the region.

One key reason for the tour is to get first hand feedback from the people and the chiefs who are the custodians of the land. It will also afford him the opportunity to clarify key government policies to them.

The Public Relations Officer of the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC), Foster Hunor, who confirmed the tour to DAILY GUIDE said details of the visit would be communicated in due time.

Meanwhile, a proposed itinerary sighted by DAILY GUIDE indicates that the President will begin the tour from the southern part of the region and end in the northern part.

The tour will start on Monday from Anloga, the capital of the Anlo State in the Keta Municipality, where the President will meet the Awomefia, Torgbui Sri III at his palace.

From there, he will be assisted by Torgbui Sri to commission the Anlo Shopping Centre at Anloga. This will be followed by the commissioning of a hostel named after the late Major Courage Quarshigah at the Keta Nursing and Midwifery Training College.

President Nana Addo will then proceed to Tadzewu in the Ketu North Municipality where he will meet and interact with chiefs from Anlo, Keta, Ketu North and South, Akatsi North and South, Central, South and North Tongu, Adaklu and Agotime Ziope.

On the second day (Tuesday) the President and his entourage will inspect work on the state of the art Youth Development Centre at Adaklu. Inspection of projects at the main campus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS); that of Sokode Etoe in the Ho Municipality will follow.

He will then meet chiefs that make up the middle belt at Hohoe. They include South Dayi, North Dayi, Ho West, Ho, Kpando, Hohoe and Afadzato-South.

On Wednesday, the President will inspect the much-talked about Eastern Corridor road, particularly the Hohoe to Jasikan portion which is in a deplorable condition.

He will once again meet chiefs from the Oti Area: Nkwanta North & South, Krachi West, East and Nchumuru, Jasikan, Biakoye, Akan and Kadjebi. The meeting will be held at Dambai – Krachi East.

President Akufo-Addo is expected to make his last stop at Torgome in the North Tongu District, where he will cut the sod for an irrigation project.

Apart from this lined up activities some key areas that the people will expect the President to talk about are roads, water, agriculture and jobs. In the south, the issue of oil exploration will come up strongly.

On roads, the people will like to know what exactly the President has been doing about the Eastern Corridor road which is dear to the hearts of the people. In fact, residents are not happy that the project has stalled.
