ENERGY MINISTER, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has showered praises on Otumfuo’s Apagyahene, Nana Owusu Afriyie, for being a development-oriented traditional leader.

The minister, who doubles as the MP for Manhyia South in Kumasi, has similarly commended Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, the Kumasi Urban Roads Director, for his vision and hard work.

According to him, the two men have the development of Kumasi and for that matter Ghana at heart, therefore they deserved to be praised for their patriotic mindset.

“Ing Nana Poku Agyeman is an amazing personality, in fact, he dreams and thinks about Kumasi’s development all the time just like Nana Apagyahene,” Dr. Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’ remarked.

He was of the strong conviction that the country would transform in leaps and bounds within a short time, if the citizenry emulates the patriotism of the two distinguished personalities.

The Minister of Energy was speaking during a dinner held at the Rattray Park in Kumasi Saturday night to celebrate the 40th birthday of Ing Nana Poku Agyeman.

The programme was graced by traditional leaders in Asanteman and beyond, top businessmen, the clergy and people from all walks of life in the country and abroad.

Continuing, Napo stated emphatically that the effort of every Ghanaian was needed to help accelerate national development, therefore he entreated the populace to be hard working.

According to him, the President could not singularly lead the country into affluence “and that is why I am calling on all of us to play our various roles to help transform our dear motherland.”

Dignitaries such as Osei Kwame Despite, Ofori Sarpong, Nana Kwame Bediako aka ‘Chada’, COP Kofi Boakye, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta aka ‘Tomtom’, Nana Owusu Prempeh and Edmund Kyei graced the event.

Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, who was highly elated, thanked Napo for his kind words, and assured of his readiness to re-dedicate his life and time to the service of Asanteman and Ghana in general.

According to him, his father Nana Akwasi Agyeman of blessed memory, faithfully served the country during his tenure as the longest serving Kumasi Mayor and “I am emulating his lifestyle.”
