MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate for the 2024 elections, has presented food items to an orphanage home and two rehabilitation centres in Kumasi.

The food items that he generously donated included bags of rice, bags of maize, bags of beans, gallons of cooking oil, bags of sugar, bags of gari, boxes of canned fish, and boxes of tin tomatoes, among others.

The beneficiary institutions included the Kumasi Children’s Home, Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre and Kumasi Cheshire Home. The donation was aimed at ensuring that the inmates are properly fed at all times.

Significantly, Napo, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South Constituency in Kumasi, who is also a former Minister of Education, has been donating to these three institutions for the last 20 years.

In his succinct remarks after the donation, Dr. Prempeh, who is a staunch Christian, stated categorically that the Holy Bible teaches that it’s more blessed to give than to receive, so he is just going by the dictates of the Bible.

“I’m not overly rich but I delight in sharing the little that I have with the needy in society, because the Holy Bible teaches me to do so,” Napo disclosed to journalists.

Dr. Prempeh, who is also a former Minister of Energy, stated that the donation would not be a nine-day wonder, promising to continuously donate to the three institutions during this year’s Christmas season.

“I’m here today to donate to these three institutions as I usually do every four months to support management’s effort in properly feeding the inmates. I will come to donate again in December,” he assured.
