Napo Leads Manhyia Clean Up

Napo during the last clean-up exercise

DR. MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo, is expected to lead a massive clean-up exercise in Kumasi on Saturday morning.

The exercise will take place around the Manhyia Palace – the official seat of the Asantehene.

Napo and all New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Manhyia South Constituency will partake in the exercise.

The clean-up exercise is aimed at making the Manhyia Palace and the nearby areas look clean and appealing.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is marking his 20 years milestone on the sacred Golden Stool of Asanteman, this year.

As part of activities marking the 20th anniversary, there will also be health screening on Saturday, April 13 and football gala on 20th April under the organisation of Napo.

As part of the anniversary, top dignitaries from all over the world would troop in to congratulate the king at Manhyia.

Alhaji Abouba, the Manhyia South NPP Organizer, said more than 1,000 NPP supporters would take part in Saturday’s exercise.

He said the clean-up exercise would be repeated at the Manhyia Palace and the nearby areas every Saturday.

“We will complete our clean-up exercises only when activities marking Otumfuo’s 20 years anniversary have officially come to an end”, he disclosed.

Haruna Alhassan, the NPP Manhyia South Constituency Secretary, said Saturday’s exercise would start at exactly 6am.

He pointed out that choked gutters would be desilted and bushy areas cleared, adding that “we shall also donate dustbins to support Otumfuo’s anniversary”.

He asserted that Napo and all NPP members believe that the clean-up exercise is the least that they can offer to make Otumfuo’s anniversary grand.
