NDC MP ‘Impressed’ By Nana’s Ambulances

Christian Otuteye gleefully pointing at his constituency’s name on the ambulance

THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Sege Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Christian Corleteye Otuteye, appears to be impressed with the effort by the Akufo-Addo government to revive the National Ambulance Service.

President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday inaugurated and distributed 307 ambulances to each of the 275 constituencies as part of measures aimed at responding swiftly to emergencies.

The programme is under the Ministry of Special Development Initiative christened, “One Constituency, One Ambulance”.

Mr. Otuteye, who belongs to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party castigating the government over the purchase of the ambulances, drew a scene when he was captured ‘admiring’ the ambulance for his constituency (Sege) at the inauguration.

His action has since attracted both ‘praise’ and ‘condemnation’ from his constituents on social media.

Opponents of the NDC are saying the MP’s presence at the ceremony was an endorsement of President Akufo-Addo’s second term.

They said the MP showed political maturity by being present to take delivery of the constituency’s share of the ambulances.

Wilson Apaflo, said on Facebook, “That is rather an endorsement. Some glories cannot be taken from the true recipient.”

Abraham Nakom, a constituent, praised the MP for his action, saying “Kudos to my honourable MP. I salute you, sir. This really shows a good team spirit.”

Another person, Agbeshie Gideon Tei told the MP, “Be gentle to equally acknowledge the efforts of others on the other side for the positives. I also commend the effort, but…”

However, one Mc Narh Isaac said the MP did not go there to endorse the NPP government.

“Cheap propaganda!!! What has the presence of the MP during the handover of the ambulances to his constituency got to do with him endorsing Nana Addo?
