Christabel Adomako Kyei
Scriptwriter, movie and content producer, Christabel Adomako Kyei, the National Democratic Party (NDP) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma Central, has said if given the nod in this year’s elections, her party will strengthen the creative arts industry.
She said the creative sector is a potential source of income generation and employment to most youths in the country yet still it is sidelined by most governments.
According to her, the sector contributed to national development because many countries had gained prominence on the international stage due to the influence of their creative artistes.
In an interview with BEATWAVES, Christabel Adomako Kyei said her party when voted into office would implement programmes to support the growth of the creative sector to drive job creation and economic growth.
She outlined some of her party’s policies which include funding creative art institutions, establishment of creative arts fund to support industry stakeholders among many others.
She declared that when voted into office as a Member of Parliament (MP), she would provide quality leadership that addresses the needs and aspiration of creative industry stakeholders in the country.
“I would organise periodic seminars and workshops to upgrade the skills of the creative stakeholders,” she added.
She indicated that she would also push for the enforcement of the needed industry policies and engage policy makers to formulate and implement appropriate interventions to help streamline business operations in the sector.
Asked what she would bring on board if given the opportunity to be a lawmaker, Christabel said as a learned person in the creative arts, she intends to bring all her knowledge into making sure actors, musicians, artistes and anyone who matters in the creative arts benefit.
To her, this is the time for the creative industry to get someone who is a real industry person and who actually belongs in there; an astute leader to act as a bridge between the industry and the government.
Christabel Kyei, who has worked with actors such as Roselyn Ngissah, John Dumelo, Eddie Watson, Paulina Oduro and Pascal Amanfo, has also featured in some popular TV series including Chorkor Trotro on Tv3, Taxi Driver on GTV and Trailer TV on GHOne television.
