NEIP To Build 29 Industries

 John Kumah, CEO NEIP

The National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP) is expected to build some 29 industries under the Youth in Industry programme.

It’s to build the industries across Ghana with support from the Ghana EXIM Bank and ACE India, according to Chief Executive Officer (CEO), John Kumah.

He did not disclose sectors in which the industries are to be set up, but indicated that NEIP made strides in 2018 with respect to promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in Ghana.

According to Mr. Kumah, “NEIP’s Youth in industry programme is a radical approach to building sub-contracting industries to feed the larger industries. 29 industries are going to be built across Ghana with support from Ghana EXIM Bank and ACE India.”

He stated that NEIP in 2018 completed the installation of NEIP 75 greenhouses units at Dawenya and recovered funds from the previous beneficiaries, among others.

In the year under review, NEIP also successfully signed an agreement for the establishment of a tractor assembling plant in Ghana and successfully implemented the students’ entrepreneurship initiative.

It also trained some 7,000 applicants with technical business support, provided funding for 1,350 businesses with amounts ranging from GH¢10,000 to GH¢100,000, said Mr. Kumah.

He said NEIP also created 2,700 jobs this year from its business support programme and implemented a policy on tax incentives for young entrepreneurs.
