HER ROYAL Majesty, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, has visited Kumasi, Ashanti Region, to attend the sacred ‘Awukudae’ festival hosted by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Queen Maxima was officially welcomed to Kumasi at the airport by Nana Kwame Baffoe, the Paramount Chief of Nkoranza, who is traditionally the eldest son of Otumfuo.
Queen Maxima stole the show at the Prempeh I International Airport during her visit to Kumasi last Wednesday, as she stunned onlookers when she danced Adowa, a popular dance of the Asantes, on the tarmac few minutes after landing in Kumasi.

The visiting monarch held private talks with the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asante Kingdom, after the ‘Awukudae’ festival.
