The suspended NFL Officials
The NFL has suspended two officials for instances of unprofessional conduct towards players.
Line judge Jeff Seeman has been suspended for two games, while referee Adrian Hill has received a one-game suspension following separate incidents on Sunday.
Seeman was caught on camera appearing to curse at Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during his side’s 36-24 defeat by the New York Giants.
McBride had complained to Seeman after feeling he was interfered with by Giants cornerback Dru Phillips on an incomplete pass from Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett. Seeman appeared to respond by shouting a profanity at the player.
“It’s unfortunate it happened. It can’t happen obviously,” Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur said.
Hill’s incident involved Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson during their 15-10 win over the Miami Dolphins.
Wilson was pushed into Hill by Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II after a play had been stopped because of a Minnesota penalty. As Wilson tried to help the official up, Hill stood up and pointed and shouted at him to move away.
“That was funny, honestly,” Wilson said afterwards. “I ended up apologising to him and explained the situation. He was cool about it.”
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons moved to second in the NFC South after beating the New Orleans Saints 45-24 on Monday night.
Bijan Robinson scored an early touchdown following a 53-yard run, while Brian Robinson Jr. also scored three times as the Falcons secured consecutive victories after losing their opening two games.
The Saints remain third in the division with a 1-3 record.
