A non-governmental organisation, Agyemang Amponsah Foundation (AAF), has donated hospital materials worth GH¢10,000 to two hospitals in the Ashanti Akyem Central.

The items include bed sheets, pillowcases, toiletries, bedpans, plastic clinical bowls, boxes of other materials, drugs, syringes, dressing materials, thermometers and crutches.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, AAF Founder, Nana Agyemang Amponsah, said the gesture was to give back to society.

According to him, the government cannot do it alone, hence the need for the citizens to contribute their social responsibility to society.

“This is our way to extend our social responsibility to the community where we grew up. The foundation aims to assist the hospitals in our own small way to promote good health,” he said.

The young banker also paid the bills of some patients at the Konongo Hospital.

A midwife at the Cape Coast Government Hospital and Executive Director of the foundation, Mrs. Judith Agyemang Amponsah, said the gesture is a way to serve humanity.

She said although the government “is doing its bit, the gaps are still there”.

“Gestures of this nature would help to improve the quality of care provided to patients,” she added.

The Director of the Konongo Hospital thanked the team and said the materials would make the patients more comfortable, noting that they were some of the things the hospital needed most.

“The donated items came at the right time; it is a laudable idea and the hospital management appreciates the gesture.”
