NIB, ABL, Others Donate To Farmers

The National Investment Bank (NIB), Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) and Ganorma Agro Chemicals Limited have respectively donated GH¢30,000 cash, assorted drinks worth GH¢165,000 and knapsacks valued at GH¢25,000 to the Ministry of Food & Agriculture (MoFA) towards the celebration of this year’s Farmers’ Day slated for Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

Deputy Minister in-charge of Crops, Dr Sagre Bambangi, who received the items at the Ministry on Wednesday, urged all prospective donors to support the farmers because government intends to widen the scope of the awards this year.

According to him, increasing the donations would enable the government to expand the coverage to include more farmers across the country.

“We need to recognize the efforts of our farmers by reaching out to more in appreciation of their contributions to the national economy,” he stated.

He therefore expressed profound gratitude to the various donors and promised to use the donations solely for the intended purpose.

Richard Eghan, Lead Technician at GBL, said his outfit was committed to invest.

He said they would provide farmers with all year-round access to water through solar-powered furrow irrigation system.

Gambibgo, a community in the Upper East Region, has benefitted from the solar irrigation system that would be inaugurated soon, he said.

“It is our desire to support the creation of productive world where land is used responsibly, food security is secure and biodiversity is protected.”
