The National Information Technology Agency (NITA) has called for stronger collaboration among stakeholders to advance the country’s digital transformation agenda.
Speaking at the launch of the 2026 National ICT Week in Accra recently, the Acting Director-General of NITA, Yaw Amoah-Yeboah, stressed that innovation cannot thrive in isolation, emphasising that no single institution can build the nation’s digital economy alone.
He said achieving the digital transformation agenda requires collective action and sustained collaboration among government, the private sector, academia, development partners, investors, innovators and citizens.
The 2026 National ICT Week will be held from Monday, August 17, to Thursday, August 20, 2026, under the theme: “Innovation at Scale: Creating Opportunities Across Ghana’s Digital Ecosystem.”
He described the launch of the 2026 National ICT Week as the beginning of a national movement aimed at advancing innovation, creating jobs, attracting investment, empowering young people and positioning Ghana among Africa’s leading digital economies.
According to him, countries around the world are racing to harness artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, financial technology and other emerging technologies to drive economic growth.
He said Ghana cannot afford to remain on the sidelines, adding that innovation must move beyond conference rooms and research laboratories to positively impact classrooms, hospitals, farms, businesses, government services and communities across the country.
Mr. Amoah-Yeboah reaffirmed NITA’s commitment to strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure by improving interoperability across government institutions and public services, among other initiatives, to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He said stronger partnerships would position Ghana as Africa’s preferred destination for digital investment, innovation and technology talent.
The Acting Director-General said the four-day event would feature a technology exhibition showcasing Ghana’s digital innovations, as well as high-level discussions on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital finance, digital trust and national digital sovereignty.
It will bring together investors, policymakers, technology companies, startups, researchers and students from across the country and beyond.
Other activities will include dialogues between policymakers and industry leaders, networking opportunities for startups and investors, and the formation of strategic partnerships that will extend beyond the event.
Mr. Amoah-Yeboah said the primary objective of ICT Week is to move beyond discussions by fostering collaboration that delivers concrete actions capable of transforming the country’s digital landscape.
He noted that the event would also provide opportunities for the technology ecosystem, particularly entrepreneurs seeking new markets, students preparing for future careers, investors exploring emerging opportunities, institutions embracing digital transformation, and individuals interested in developing solutions to improve lives.
