DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba (seated) with ACP Cephas Arthur
The Ashanti South Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, has declared that there is no hiding place for criminals in the country, warning that the police will pursue offenders wherever they may be.
According to him, armed robbers who attempt to confront the police should be prepared for the consequences, as officers will respond decisively to any threat.
“We put our lives on the line to protect the public. Anyone who chooses to engage us violently must be ready for the outcome,” he cautioned.
Speaking in an interview with the DAILY GUIDE, DCOP Nyaaba disclosed that the Ashanti South Regional Police Command has stepped up operations beyond its jurisdiction, following authorisation from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
He noted that the move has led to significant breakthroughs, including the arrest of suspects linked to the killing of a Kusasi chief in Kumasi and those involved in the murder of Dominic Frimpong, a former player of Berekum Chelsea, at Ahwerewam.
“As we speak, our men are in Buipe in the Northern Region pursuing some suspects, and we will ensure that all of them are brought to book,” he stated.
In a related development, the Deputy Ashanti South Regional Commander, ACP Cephas Arthur, reaffirmed the command’s readiness to confront criminals.
“We are committed to our work, and when we are coming for you, we are ready for anything,” he stressed.
DCOP Nyaaba further appealed to the public to support the police with timely and credible information, stressing that effective policing largely depends on intelligence from the citizenry.
“We urge the public to volunteer information. Without it, we cannot work. They should not be afraid that their identities will be exposed—we guarantee confidentiality,” he assured.
He encouraged residents to channel information through senior officers at the district and national levels, adding that all tips would be treated with the utmost discretion.
The Ashanti South Police Command, he emphasised, remains committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of all citizens.
