The tragic development was confirmed on Monday by Abubakar Yakubu, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
According to Yakubu, the actor died in his sleep on Sunday.
He stated that Akiyesi’s body has been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, adding that the guild is still awaiting further details from the actor’s family regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
“Yes, it is true. He died yesterday. He slept and did not wake up. We await further details from the family. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened,” Yakubu told The Cable Lifestyle.
Solomon Akiyesi, who hailed from Edo State, specifically the Akoko-Edo/Ososo area, was active in the Nigerian film industry for many years. He appeared in several productions, including Heart of a Saint, Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, and Bridge of Contract.
His death has come as a shock to many Nigerians, with tributes already beginning to pour in from colleagues and fans mourning the loss of the actor.
