Several Nollywood stars, gospel musicians, and dignitaries gathered in Lagos on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, for the service of songs held in honour of late actor Alex Ekubo.
The event took place at the Monarch Event Centre in Lekki and attracted many prominent personalities from the entertainment industry and beyond.
Among the dignitaries present was former Nigerian Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili. Popular pastors Ituah Ighodalo and Jerry Eze also ministered at the ceremony.
Gospel musicians including Peterson Okopi, Ebuka Songs, Moses Bliss, Mercy Chinwo, and the Laud Urban Choir led worship and performances during the service.
Several Nollywood celebrities attended the event, including Funke Akindele, Kate Henshaw, Omoni Oboli, Nancy Isime, Ini Edo, Ruth Kadiri, Ike Ogbonna, Stan Nze, Kunle Remi, Mike Godson, comedian AY, Yomi Casual, Frank Edoho, Cubana Chief Priest, Kcee, E-Money, and Chike.
Alex Ekubo passed on May 11, 2026, at a hospital in Lagos after battling advanced kidney cancer.
The late actor is scheduled to be laid to rest on June 18, 2026, in his hometown of Ujari Village in Abia State.
