Northern Region, South Africa To Collaborate In Agric Development

The South African High Commission intends to partner with the Northern part of Ghana in agriculture development.

This was made known when the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, Grace Jeanet Mason, paid a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Shani Alhassan Shaibu at his office in Tamale.

Information vailable to DGN Online indicates that the South African High Commission, will soon sign an official memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) to undertake projects in agriculture development , infrastructure , education among others to ensure smooth trading between both countries.

Madam Mason said this will be the beginning of a great relationship that will strengthen South Africa and the Northern region.

“ I do not want to just have ceremonial visits but to have tangible projects that can be realized from the cooperation in sectors like agricultural, education and all the sectors.”

She assured the regional minister of South Africa’s support to strengthen cities , regions of both countries.

The Northern Regional Minister, Mr. Shani Alhassan Shaibu, thanked the South African High Commusioner for her visit.

The Minister stated that the Northern region region has vast lands and that the chiefs will be very much ready to provide land to any investor for development purposes.

Mr. Shaibu assured the South African High Commissioner that the Regional Coordinating Council(RCC) is ready to support any organization willing to partner with them for development.

He was optimistic that the visit by the South African High Commissioner will strengthen the existing cooperation between the two countries.
