Alhaji Short Steps Down

Alhaji Abubarkari Abdul-Rahman

Former Upper West Regional Chairperson of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Abubarkari Abdul-Rahman, popularly known as ‘Alhaji Short’ has bowed out of the National Chairmanship race of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a statement released on Thursday, May 31, he said the move will serve the best interest of the party.

“After long introspection and consideration, I believe the interest of the party would be best served by my withdrawal”, the statement read.

Meanwhile, aspirants for the position of National Chairman of the NPP will be facing the vetting panel of the party’s electoral commission at the party’s headquarters today in Asylum Down.

Acting National chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay is favourite to win the election as the party’s substantive Chairman as the party goes for congress in Koforidua from July 6 – July 8.

Other aspirants in the race for the chairmanship position are Stephen Ayensu Ntim, Dr. Richard Amoako Baah and David Kankam Boadu.
