The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has eulogised the founder and leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, who passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, after a short illness.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 15, 2025, and signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as the “Star of Africa,” was described as more than a philanthropist and religious leader.
The party hailed him as an embodiment of local ingenuity, innovation, and the can-do spirit of the African.
“He established himself as a generational inventor, agriculturist, and industrialist, particularly with his exploits as the founder of the KOSA Network of Companies and the Kantanka Group of Companies, including Kantanka Automobile – a wholly Ghanaian-owned automotive company and one of Africa’s leading technology conglomerates,” parts of the statement read.
The NPP further noted that the late Apostle was a strong pillar of support for the party, particularly in the Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, where his daughter, Sarah Adwoa Safo, served three terms as Member of Parliament on the party’s ticket.
The statement added that the party is deeply saddened by his passing and extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the Kristo Asafo Mission, while also commiserating with the nation at large over the loss of an extraordinary and illustrious citizen.
“May the soul of our dearly departed find comfort in God’s bosom, and may the family he left behind, and indeed all of us in the party and beyond, find the fortitude to bear this great loss. Damirifa Due!!!” the statement concluded.
