NPP Needs Majority In Parliament – Napo

Napo being welcomed to Atwima Mponua on Tuesday

MATTHEW Opoku Prempeh aka ‘Napo’, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stressed the need for the party to win majority of seats in parliament on December 7.

According to him, winning majority seats in the august House would help Dr. Bawumia’s incoming government to push their positive policies to quickly transform the country.

He was speaking when he toured Atwima Mponua Constituency in the Ashanti Region to campaign for votes for the NPP’s Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Sounding very confident, he stated emphatically that Dr. Bawumia would become the next president of Ghana in 2025, noting that the NPP needs to control parliament.

Napo, who has served as the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South for 16 years, said without majority in parliament the next NPP administration would struggle.

He, therefore, admonished NPP members and sympathizers to campaign for Dr. Bawumia and all the 275 parliamentary candidates of the NPP to win their various elections.

“As we are seriously campaigning for more votes for Dr. Bawumia, we should not forget that we have 275 parliamentary candidates also contesting on December 7.

“Dr. Bawumia’s government will need the support of the parliamentarians in order for him to push his policies and programmes to accelerate the development of the country.

“I’m therefore, appealing to you to go all out and campaign for our parliamentary candidates because the NPP must control parliament”, Napo stated, attracting wild applause.

The NPP running mate said President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government suffered in pushing its policies after the 2020 polls because the NPP did not perform well in the parliamentary polls.

“We should not allow the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to control parliament and frustrate our incoming government from performing”, Napo warned.

He also sternly cautioned against the notion of voting for Dr. Bawumia and neglecting the NPP parliamentary candidates, which is popularly called ‘skirt and blouse.’

“We are voting massively for Dr. Bawumia and all the 275 NPP parliamentary candidates on December 7. We don’t need any skirt and blouse”, Dr. Opoku Prempeh admonished.
