NPP Opens Akuapem North Parliamentary Primary Nomination

Justin Kodua Frimpong

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the opening of nominations for the Akuapem North parliamentary primary.
A statement issued and signed on Tuesday November 28, 2023 by the General Secretary of the party, Justin Kodua Frimpong, said the nomination forms will be available at the Constituency Party Office for purchase till Thursday November 30, 2023.
“The Party has also approved detailed rules and regulations to govern the conduct of the parliamentary primary election, which will be made available to stakeholders,” it said.
The National Secretariat of the NPP has announced additional guidelines for its upcoming parliamentary primaries in orphan constituencies, scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023.

The party set Tuesday July 11, 2023 for the opening of nominations for the orphan constituencies while election was slated between September and December 2 on case by case basis.
Sammi Awuku, who is the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and a former National Organizer of the party, has expressed interest to annex the seat from the incumbent MP, Nana Ama Dokua Asiamah-Adjei.
The incumbent MP for the area has, however, picked nomination forms to contest for the Okaikoi parliamentary primary following Sammi Awuku’s interest and declaration to contest as the parliamentary candidate for Akuapem North.
Recent developments in the area show that Sammi Awuku received massive support and endorsement from residents in the area when he launched his “Ofie agenda.”
