NPP Salutes Akufu-Addo On His Re-Election As ECOWAS Chair

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated President Nana Akufo-Addo on his re-election as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

Mr Akufu-Addo was re-elected on by the Heads of State and Governments of ECOWAS on February 3, 2021, after a successful first one year tenure.

And in a statement signed by its Director of International Affairs,
Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso, the NPP said “The heads of state and governments expressed sincere appreciation to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana and Chair of ECOWAS Authority of heads of state and governments for his leadership in steering the affairs of the community.”

“It will be recalled that H. E. President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, was unanimously elected by heads of state and governments of ECOWAS to serve a one year term in 2020. At the time of political instability in Mali, Burkina Faso and other parts of the sub-region, the President of Ghana demonstrate competent leadership that has ensure relative stability in the region. Under his leadership, the President has initiated reforms to make the ECOWAS bloc more responsive to the dynamics among within the West Africa and the implementation of protocols that will foster development. It is important to state that the President also has other international commitments including serving as co-chair of the United Nations advocate on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” the statement recounted.

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS DIRECTORATE OF NPP CONGRATULATES PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO ON HIS RE-ELECTION AS ECOWAS CHAIR.

The International Affairs Directorate of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) sends warm congratulations  to H. E. Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana on his re-election as Chairman of ECOWAS. The unanimity of confidence reposed in the first gentleman of Ghana, by the heads of states of the regional bloc, is a demonstration of faith and trust in the excellent leadership exhibited by the Ghanaian leader in the management of the affairs within the sub-region.

The decision by the heads of states and governments of ECOWAS at an extraordinary meeting held yesterday 3rd February, 2021 was contained in a press statement as follows “To this end, the Authority calls on His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of Republic of Ghana with the support of the Ministerial Ad hoc Committee on institutional reforms to lead a reflection on the issues and a report on this point be submitted to the ordinary session of the Authority to be held in June 2021. To that effect, a consensus emerged from the heads of state and governments that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo continues for a second term as Chair of the ECOWAS Authority to oversee the implementation of the reforms.”

“The heads of state and governments expressed sincere appreciation to His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana and Chair of ECOWAS Authority of heads of state and governments for his leadership in steering the affairs of the community.”
