The regional chairman, regional executive committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the entire membership of the NPP have expressed their appreciation to the people of Northern Region for the cordial reception they accorded President Akufo-Addo during his three-day tour of the region.
The annual tour of the President is intended to afford him an opportunity to interact with Ghanaians and to personally ascertain developmental projects that are being undertaken by his government.
The President began his three-day tour of the region in the newly created Bunpurugu/Nakpanduri district where he received a tumultuous welcome by the people at a durbur organised in his honour.
In his speech, the President underscored the commitment of the NPP government to ensure equitable distribution of the national cake, stressing that construction works on the Nalerigu Bunkpurugu road will begin this year.
He commended the people for eventually smoking the peace pipe.
In a statement signed by the Northern Regional Secretary of the NPP, Lawyer Sulley Sambian, he indicated that at Nalerigu, where the President was honoured with a chieftaincy title, he reiterated the government’s promise to complete the Eastern Corridor road and other road networks linking the Mamprugu Traditional Area.
“Mr President, the NPP members in the region and indeed the people of Northern Region are grateful to you for your assurance of finding a lasting solution to the Dagbon crises, a situation that has impacted negatively towards peace and security in the area. We are confident you are more than determined to live up to this commitment,” he told the President.
Lawyer Sulley also thanked the good people of Northern Region for the orderly manner in which they conducted themselves during the visit of the President.
According to him, the NPP would make sure every part of the country gets its share of the national cake adding that the lives of Ghanaians would never be the same under the leadership of Nana Addo.
He indicated that the ongoing numerous developmental projects in the Northern Region are a sign that Ghana is moving forward in the right direction.
