NPP Toasts Nana For Forbes Award

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated their leader, President Akufo-Addo, on his feat as the 2021 African of the Year.

The honour was conferred on the President by Forbes Africa Magazine which recognises Africans that have made an impact on the continent and at the world stage, and the latest issue of the world-acclaimed magazine released just last Friday, December 3, 2021, celebrated the contributions of the 77-year-old President Akufo-Addo.

Previously, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda (2018), African Development Bank President, Akinwumi Adesina (2019) and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director General of the World Trade Organisation (2020), both Nigerians, were recognised by the magazine.

Akufo-Addo said, the award “is an honour and it means the world is looking at the work we are doing here in Ghana. So it’s an inspiration for us and an encouragement for us to continue the path that we have set for ourselves.”

The NPP’s congratulatory statement signed by the party’s General Secretary John Boadu said, “NPP is pleased to join the rest of the world to say a hearty congratulations to the President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on his deserving recognition as the 2021 African of the Year by the reputable Forbes African Magazine.”

“In conferring this great honour on the Ghanaian Leader, on December 3, 2021, Africa’s leading magazine, Forbes, observed among other things that: ‘Ghana’s President has repositioned the country in the global marketplace as one reliant on its own resources…’.”

The statement said “this recognition, without doubt, is a further vindication of President Akufo-Addo’s sterling leadership in steering the affairs of this country and delivering prosperity to its people. More instructively, this honour confirms the President’s unrivaled commitment to leading the chart towards realising the African dream and more.

“The NPP also observes with delight that this recognition comes at the back of similar honour conferred on the President in less than 24 hours when he was named as the recipient of the first ever International Nation Builders Award from Black US Legislators at the 45th Annual National Black Caucus of State Legislators in Atlanta, Georgia, on December 2.”

The NPP General Secretary further said that “Ghana, and for that matter Africa, certainly, cannot be blessed with a better transformational leader, particularly at these crucial times where the continent is on a course for a rebound and growth of its economy after the ravages of COVID-19. In President Akufo-Addo, indeed, we find that Leader to take us to the promise land, to the glory of God and country.”
