Nana Amoako Poku, Offinso Paramount Chief-elect
THE OFFINSO Paramount stool, which became vacant following the unfortunate demise of Nana Wiafe Akenten, will be filled soon.
This positive news has become possible following the nomination of Nana Amoako Poku, 68, to become the next Offinso Paramount Chief.
Nana Amoako Poku was nominated by the kingmakers led by the Abusuapanin after the queenmother had failed to nominate a royal for the stool.
The soon-to-be Offinsohene was publicly introduced during the last meeting of the Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace on Monday.
Nana Amoako Poku would now go through some traditional rites before he would swear the oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Meanwhile, a press release, signed by Kofi Badu, the Chief of Staff of the Manhyia Palace, has confirmed the nomination of Nana Amoako Poku.
The statement, issued on Monday, December 18, 2023, reads “Nana Amoako Poku, 68-year-old royal of the Offinso Ahyirem Royal Family, has been named the Offinsohene-elect.
“Nana Amoako Poku, a renowned curator of Asante heritage, was presented to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, at the final session of Asanteman Council today by the Kwakwaboa Abusuapanin, Opanin Yaw Nkrumah Adusah.
“This follows the failure of the Queen mother of Offinso to nominate a qualified royal of the Offinso Royal Family to occupy the stool.
“In accordance with Asante tradition, the Abusuapanin assumed responsibility, in consultation with the royal family, to nominate a qualified royal for the stool.”
