THE DISTRICT Chief Executive (DCE) for the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region, Mr. David Kwasi Asare, has cut the sod for the construction of a modern health insurance office.

The building, which will be sited at Yeboah Apatem, is being funded by the district assembly through its share of the common fund; it is expected to be completed in six months.

Breaking the ground for work to commence, the DCE said the completion of the health insurance office would ameliorate the difficulties people faced in commuting to Offinso or Techiman to access health insurance services.

“The need for a health insurance office in the Offinso North District to reduce the distance people have to cover to access health insurance services is a necessity and a promise well fulfilled,” he said.

In a short ceremony to hand over the project to Capito Engineering Company limited, the DCE popularly known as ‘Adwumawura’ said he was committed to providing local leadership to ensure that the project completion timetable was not affected, describing the initiative as a long dream come true.

The DCE urged the contractor to finish the project within the contract period of six months.

He reiterated the President’s commitment in delivering better health care in the country and urged the people in his district to take seriously every government interventions to better themselves.

He thanked the Deputy Minister for Local Government and MP for Offinso North Constituency, Augustine Collins Ntim, for the project, noting that without him the project will not have been possible.

He also urged the contractor to employ the services of local masons, carpenters and other labourers, whose services may be essential, to help create employment opportunities for youth in the area.

Some opinion leaders, who were present at the ceremony, thanked the assembly for the project and pledged their unflinching support to the DCE and the assembly in their quests to accelerate development of the district.

On his part, the contractor gave the assurance that work would begin without delay and would be delivered on time.
