Nigerian comedian and actor, Okey Bakassi, has dismissed reports that his wife has filed for divorce, describing the claims as false.
The rumours surfaced online on Monday, alleging that the couple were separating after 15 years apart, following reports that his wife and children had relocated to the United States.
In a video shared on Instagram, the comedian said he and his wife remained together, accusing the author of the report of attempting to tarnish his family’s image.
“Please, my wife and I are still together, God forbid anything will ever happen to us,” he said.
He added that the publication had triggered calls from friends, family and fans across the world seeking clarification.
Okey Bakassi said the couple had recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Canada.
He also disputed claims that his wife lives in the United States or works as a nurse, describing those details in the report as inaccurate.
