Okyenhene Gives SHC 200 Acres Of Land

The SHC Boss with the Okyenhene

The Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin has released 200 acres of land to the State Housing Company (SHC) Limited towards the affordable housing projects initiative being pursued by the state agency.

The SHC since 2017 has embarked on the construction of houses to support the effort of the government to provide affordable housing for the public, and the agency has indicated that it has plans to extend the housing project to every district in the country.

The Okyenhene at a handing over ceremony in Kyebi in the Abuakwa South Municipality in the Eastern Region said “As traditional leaders, it is incumbent on us to collaborate and assist the government in achieving its objectives towards liberating citizens.”

He said the housing deficit in the country is a concern for every well-meaning Ghanaian, saying “the time has come for all of us to offer our support to the government and the State Housing Company to give our people well-deserved decent accommodation.”

The Okyenhene praised the Kwabena Ampofo Appiah-led SHC for reviving the SHC and urged him to do more for the country.

Free Wi-Fi Propaganda

The prominent traditional leader also rubbished claims that the entire Kyebi township is enjoying free Wi-Fi services at the expense of the government.

“It is not true, that claim is malicious and aimed at achieving a certain effect. There is a library here in Kyebi which has that facility for the use of visitors to the library and not anybody walking about in Kyebi,” he clarified.

He, therefore, urged the media to be gatekeepers and crosscheck issues before putting them out in the public domain.

Expressing his appreciation, Kwabena Ampofo Appiah, Managing Director of State Housing Company, lauded the Okyenhene for his swift response to his request and assured Okyeman that, “the project will come alive very soon.”

He disclosed that the government in the recent budget to Parliament earmarked funds for the construction of affordable houses in every district for civil and public servants in particular.
