One Injured In Gas Station Fire

A structure that was gutted by fire at the gas station

ONE PERSON has suffered injuries, following a fire outbreak at a gas station in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The fire caused heavy vehicular traffic on the main Anloga Junction to Asokwa road, where the gas station is located, around 5pm last Friday.

People at the gas station at the time took to their heels, in a desperate attempt to avert being injured or killed by the massive fire.

Officials at the gas station quickly placed a distressed call to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the firefighters rushed to the place on time to fight the inferno.

They were able to bring the situation under control quickly, because the access route was not blocked and the place was spacious enough for the fire tenders to park.

Unfortunately, by the time the fire fighters arrived at the scene the fire had already destroyed some gas cylinders, dispensers and other structures.

One injured person was also rushed to the hospital for treatment. The cause of the fire is still being investigated by GNFS.
