Osarfo Anthony
Ghanaian screenwriter and entertainment journalist, Osarfo Anthony, has been appointed as a judge for the 2024 US Presidential Service Centre (USPSC) Film Festival.
The festival, which will be held in Glover, North Carolina in March next year, celebrates films and series focused on the lives of U.S. first families and White House stories while supporting emerging filmmakers in securing funding and production opportunities.
Anthony expressed his excitement over the appointment, reflecting on the rigorous process involved. “I applied a year ago and underwent a thorough background check, which included a review of my criminal records, my professional image on social media, interactions, and my writings on art, media, and filmmaking. They monitored me for almost a year before granting me this appointment,” he said.
As a judge, Anthony will join an international panel of experts in screenwriting and filmmaking to evaluate the works of filmmakers and select winners, finalists, and runners-up.
In addition to his new judging role, Osarfo’s supernatural horror screenplay has garnered international recognition. It was selected for the Nostos Screenwriters Retreat in Tuscany, Italy, where he was among just eight screenwriters chosen from across the globe for an intensive two-week training programme.
The retreat is designed to foster collaboration and enhance script development.
Osarfo has also achieved success in various genre-focused competitions, where his work has won awards, further cementing his reputation as a leading figure in Ghana’s growing film industry.
