Otumfuo Back Home

Otumfuo being welcomed by security officers at the airport on Wednesday

HIS ROYAL Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool of the Asante Kindgom, is safely back home after a short trip abroad.

Traveling in a private jet, he was met at the Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi by a huge crowd, including traditional leaders, on Wednesday evening.

The Asantehene was officially welcomed back home by the Asante Juaben Paramount Chief, Nana Otuo Serebuo, who held brief talks with the king on the tarmac.

Otumfuo then proceeded to exchange pleasantries with the Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyeman-Boadi, aka ‘Zuba’ and other Asante traditional leaders at the airport.

Also at the airport to welcome the king was Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

Members of the Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC), including the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, were there to welcome Otumfuo.

Significantly, Otumfuo’s arrival means the highly-anticipated mediation of the Bawku conflict, which has claimed several lives and properties, will commence in the coming days.

Before traveling abroad, the Asantehene announced that plans were in the pipeline to start peace talks between the factions in the Bawku conflict at the Manhyia Palace.

Also, President Mahama recently announced in public that Otumfuo would commence the mediation of the Bawku conflict when he returns from his short trip abroad.
