Otumfuo Hosts Nana At Manhyia

FLASHBACK: President Akufo-Addo with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Tuesday evening hosted President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. The two dignitaries, according sources at the palace, held closed door meeting, which was not open to the public, including the media.

The paper was not privy to the agenda of the in-camera meeting, but sources speculated that the meeting had something to do with the country. According to them, they suspected that the Asante Monarch and the President discussed the current state of the country and the way forward.

According to sources, because this year is an election year, they believed that definitely the upcoming national poll was also discussed by the two dignitaries.

It’s an open secret that Otumfuo usually plays crucial roles, behind the scenes, in helping to maintain the peace being enjoyed in the country during elections.

It would therefore not be a surprise if the impending 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections was also discussed by Otumfuo and the President.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo later on Tuesday evening attended a dinner with the Black Stars in Kumasi, where he dined with the players of the national team.

The President, in his succinct remarks, charged the Black Stars players and technical team to go all out and win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after four decades of drought.

In a related development, the Black Stars on Wednesday emplaned from the Kumasi Airport to Cote d’Ivoire, host of the AFCON.
