Otumfuo Osei Tutu II
THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is extremely worried over the recent Ejura mayhem, which claimed two lives and caused injuries to others following the death of a social media activist.
Likewise, the Asante Mampong Paramount Chief, Daasebre Osei Bonsu, who has traditional responsibility of Ejura, is also concerned about the issue.
This was made known by the Ejurahene, Barimma Osei Hwedie II, who said “The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is not happy about the bloodshed and destruction of properties that has happened in Ejura. The Asante Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu, is also worried about the unfortunate situation in Ejura.”
Otumfuo is the overlord of the Asante Kingdom, of which Ejura is a part and Ejurahene serves under the Asante Mamponghene, occupant of the Silver Stool of Asanteman.
The Ejurahene said that “both the Asante King and Asante Mamponghene have been calling me to ask about what is going on in Ejura, where I am the traditional leader,” and said the two prominent leaders were eager to ensure that all troubles in Ejura would cease without delay.
Ejura was recently turned into a ‘war zone’ on June 29, as the alleged murder of one Ibrahim Mohammed, aka ‘Macho Kaaka’, sparked violent scenes, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to four others.
The government has since formed a three-member committee to conduct public inquiry into circumstances that led to the violence.
The committee is currently carrying out its mandate at the Prempeh Assembly Hall in Kumasi.
