Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah
Minister for the Western Region, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, has stated that at least 60% of the roads in the Western Region are in a good to fair shape.
He said 38.2 percent of the roads are in a bad shape.
According to him, 80 contracts have been signed for 1,300 kilometers of roads.
He stated that the Akufo-Addo’s government is embarking on massive road infrastructure projects in the Region.
He stated contractors are on site already for the 1,300 kilometers of roads, saying that most of the roads which people complain are in bad shape are being worked on.
He made this known as he took his turn at the Information Ministry’s Nation Building Updates on Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the Academy of Arts and Sciences in Accra.
According to him, major infrastructure works in railways, roads are being undertaken to improve transportation in the region.
On the air side, currently government has plans to put up a new airport in the Western Region.
Gas projects
He said government was also working to make Ghana the gas hub for West Africa by putting up a number of projects in the Region.
He said government has started the construction of the GNPC operational headquarters in Takoradi to make sure that Ghana becomes the hub of investment.
