Pastor, 2 Others Caught Burying Baby Alive

A disturbing incident has thrown the community of Ahyiresu in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region into shock, after a pastor and two accomplices were arrested for allegedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive.

The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, but was thwarted following a timely intervention by an eyewitness who raised the alarm.

The prime suspect, Apostle Dr. Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, who heads the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was arrested together with his uncle and a female accomplice believed to be a member of his church. The suspects were apprehended by police from the Bibiani District.

An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, recounted that he became suspicious after spotting the trio at a refuse dump late at night carrying the baby.

Acting on instinct, he approached them and discovered, to his horror, that the infant was still alive and was about to be buried.

Further details emerged from the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, who confirmed that the pastor had earlier informed him that the baby had died.

Based on that claim, he directed them to a burial site, unaware that the child was still alive.

Police sources at Bibiani have confirmed the arrest and indicated that investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

The rescued baby was taken to the Abofrem Clinic, where the child is receiving medical care.

Meanwhile, Assembly Member for the Ahyiresu Electoral Area, Yusuf Suleiman, confirmed that the suspects remain in police custody and are being processed for court.

Although the motive behind the attempted act remains unclear, some residents suspect possible ritual motives, including attempts to gain influence or attract followers to the church.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage in the community, with residents calling for swift justice.
