The Kpone District Police are holding a 36-year-old farmer, Gideon Mbila Bagnaba, for allegedly killing a 52-year-old pharmacy technician at Community 25 in the Greater Accra Region.

The farmer allegedly strangled the deceased, a Garribah Dorsaah, with an electric cable during a brawl in a room.

According to reports, the deceased was looking for accommodation at Sakumono Estate when he was allegedly killed.

Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, the Kpone District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) William Jabialu, said the deceased was accommodated by his friend for almost a year-and-half after he returned from the United States of America (USA) where he was domiciled for about 20 years.

“The deceased was living in a two-bedroom apartment with the mother of the owner of the property and two other siblings. All the bedrooms have washrooms but nobody uses the washroom of the property owner’s mother, since all occupants use the washroom in the room of the deceased; other occupants sleep in the living room,” he stated.

On Tuesday, August 21, 2018 DSP Jabialu narrated that “the suspect, who happens to be a stepbrother of the owner of the house, travelled from Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region to reside with them and wanted to use the washroom. He called the deceased several times but nobody responded and he banged the door until the deceased finally opened the door for him. Immediately he entered the room, the door was locked by one of them and a misunderstanding ensued which later resulted in a fight between them.”

According to him, occupants of the house tried to open the door to separate them but they were unsuccessful.

“The owner of the house was called to the house and after sometime the door was finally opened and the suspect came out with blood on the body,” he said.

He revealed that a formal complaint was lodged with police who visited the scene and found the electric cable tied around the neck of the deceased.

The suspect was immediately rushed to the Tema General Hospital.

The body of the deceased was conveyed to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra pending autopsy.

ASP Jabialu indicated that the police are investigating the matter to establish the cause of death.
