Physician Assistants Declare Strike

Graduate Physician Assistants across the county are set to go on a nationwide strike to protest what they describe as ongoing discrimination within their profession.

The Association highlighted that the dignity of Physician Assistants (PAs) has been constantly undermined, and PA training has been limited, with candidates sitting for licensure exams being failed.

The government has also been accused of strangulating PA postings instead of developing the profession.

General Secretary of the Association, Joel Tetteh Padi, demanded that the issues of discrimination and brutality faced by Physician Assistants need to be resolved by the Ministry of Health.

The industrial action is set to commence on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, unless the government intervenes to address the maltreatment and challenges faced by PAs.

The Association’s stance is a call for reform and a demand for fair treatment to secure the rights and recognition Physician Assistants deserve in the healthcare system.
