‘Di Asa’, a local plus size dance competition for market women across Ghana on Atinka TV, is generating a lot of excitement out there, as plus market women dish out all kind of crazy dance steps in a bid to outwit one another.
According to organisers, the competition which was launched in July 2017 is partly aimed at encouraging the market women on how to live a healthy life by exercising through dancing.
But many are wondering if they are not just dancing for the ultimate prize car of Kia mini truck and tricycle, since organisers are not really projecting the healthy lifestyle as an aspect of the show.
Organisers basically move from market to market in major cities of Ghana to engage the women to dance.
Eventual winners of the various market competitions will battle it out at a likely national dance championship, which would present Ghana’s best plus size dancer.
However, health experts are pondering if, indeed, contestants who will be losing the most weight on the dancing show would be the one to receive the ultimate prize or the one with the best dancing skills or steps.
