PNC Endorses Digitisation Project

The People’s National Convention (PNC) has endorsed the digitisation programme being unfolded in the country.

In a statement following Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia’s lecture on the subject at Asheshi University in Accra last Tuesday, the party noted that the prospects of digitisation in any economy cannot be overemphasised, adding that without digitisation we won’t be able to reap the benefits of human progress.

Continuing, the statement signed by the General Secretary of the Party, Janet Asana Nabla, noted while quoting the World Bank President David Malpass that “digitisation is vital in transforming social services, finance, health, education and agriculture.

“As a political party with a great interest in ensuring that Ghanaians live more comfortable lives, the PNC welcomes the digitisation agenda of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”

Though the party has a few reservations, it believes this agenda must not be denigrated and discouraged by stakeholders.

The party asked those criticising the agenda to consider how to better it. “Imagine being able to recharge your prepaid ECG meter, renew your NHIS card, make all sorts of payments for goods and services, transfer money to family and friends via all communication networks and initiate the process of renewing your driving licence, passport among others from the comfort of your home,” the party observed.
