Police Chase Assault Suspect

THE POLICE at Kwaman, in the Sekyere Central District, are on the heels of a man who allegedly assaulted a deaf person without provocation.

The suspect, identified as Kwabena Agyemang, aka ‘Kwabena Nantwi’, has gone into hiding after he caused serious injuries to Kwaku Agyei, a deaf person.

The police, however, have not lost hope as they are doing everything legally possible to locate Agyemang from his hideout and arrest him to face prosecution.

Meanwhile, Agyei, who sustained a deep cut on his right jaw, following the violent attack, is said to be battling for his life at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

A police document indicated that one Okyere Darko, a resident of Kwaman, who claimed to be a nephew of Agyei, reported the case to the police on August 12, 2021.

The complainant said Kwabena Agyemang attacked Agyei at Jedu, a cottage near Kwaman around 7pm on the aforementioned date.

According to him, Kwabena Agyemang used an unknown object or weapon to cause a deep cut in Agyei’s jaw and absconded without leaving any trace of his location.

Darko said since Agyei’s wound was severe, he was referred to KATH in Kumasi for prompt medical attention, adding that the suspect has since gone into hiding.

“Police Medical Report Form was issued to the victim through complainant Okyere Darko to be sent to same hospital for endorsement and photograph of the victim was also retained from the complainant for evidential purposes,” the police report said.

Meanwhile, the police report, which the paper has seen, indicated “efforts are being made to get suspect Kwabena Agyemang alias ‘Kwabena Nantwi’ arrested for investigation.”
