Police Grabs Escapee

CHARLES AGYEI alias Rasta, who allegedly escaped from the Koforidua Prison, was recaptured by the police yesterday.

Three weeks ago, the purported escapee reportedly slipped through the hands of some prison officers when he and four other inmates went to fetch firewood along the Akwadum-Suhum road, near the new campus of All Nations University.

DSP Daniel Yaro, Effiduase District Police Commander, who confirmed the arrest on Starr Fm – an Accra-based radio station – said the escapee was grabbed at his hideout and currently in police custody.

The convict was serving 10 years and nine months in jail when he allegedly broke jail.

On April 2016, the notorious drug dealer was put before the Mpraeso circuit court charged for possessing quantities of narcotic substance. He subsequently pleaded guilty and was convicted.

At the time of filing this report, Charles Agyei was being prepared for court.
