Police Hunt For Alleged Rapist Teacher

PBrong Ahafo Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for a teacher at Yeji in the Pru East District who allegedly raped a student.

The teacher, whose name was only given as Ben, is said to have sexually abused the 19-year-old student in his room at Cherepo in Yeji.

The Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, told journalists that the suspect, who teaches at Yeji VRA Roman Catholic School, allegedly lured the female student (name withheld) into the room under the pretext of giving her school fees.

According to the police officer, the suspect forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim and threatened to kill her if she narrates her ordeal to other people.

A medical form was issued to the victim to attend St. Matthias Hospital in Yeji for medical examination after the case was reported to the police.

According to the police, efforts are underway to get to arrest the suspect to assist in investigations.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family are pleading with residents of Yeji and the entire country to help arrest the suspect.
